My name is Jeff Morey, Call Sign WD8DX, Formally KB8TNY, I am a father of 3 children, Kris (KD8AOW)14, Shawn 12, and Megan 11. My Fiancee’ is Sherry Hunt, KD8JMB with her daughter Gwen. Also in our little family is 4 fish tanks, and 7 cats! I have been a Ham for over 11 years now. I graduated High School from Vanderbilt Area schools at the age of 17, and had my associate degree in electronics from DeVry Institute of Technology at the age of 19! My first job was Gaylord Communications in Gaylord Michigan where I installed and serviced 2-way radio equipment, Paging systems, Alarm systems, Satellite systems (from the 12 foot dishes to the 18" dishes), Home theater, TV antennas, Towers and that is to just scratch the top!! I also have my Class A CDL, drove Forklift, Delivered and repaired furniture, TV Repair and yep worked at McDonalds!! So at the ripe ol' age of 36 I have done allot!! I now work at Alpine Electronics as a service technician!
I live in the small town of Vanderbilt Michigan and hold my Extra Class License. I am also a VE, PIO, Technician Specialist, and Certified through the ARRL as a teacher of Amateur radio! I currently belong to the Top Of Michigan Amateur Radio Club and hold the positions of President and Held Vice President in the past few years. I am also a 1st Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol. I enjoy many aspects of Amateur Radio, including Nets, HF, Slow scan TV, PSK 31, APRS, and just plain ol' rag chew sessions!! I also enjoy photograpy, camping, and fishing! But never go anywhere that I dont have a radio close!! Below are a couple pictures of my station. I can currently run 440, 2meters, 6meters and all of HF. I also enjoy running QRP, in fact right now I am a QRP County, Grid, and WAS Hunter!! Im not a CW kind of person all tho I tinker from time to time.. I have 2 G5RV, tram 1480 2/440 vertical,13 element 2 meter beam, a 10 meter vertical, and windom, all on 65 feet of tower!
I have really enjoyed Amateur Radio and the people I have met. I also enjoy elmering the new up and comers!! I hope you have found my website helpful and will return again!
