Member of the Month

12/2007 KD8ESI:
12 years old, homeschooled, licensed since Dec. 7, 2006, upgraded to General in March 07, plans to get his Extra class soon, member of K8DAR Radio Club and M&M ARC. Was the first YACHT net control in June 07, and the 1st on the expanded net.
Ham gear: Icom 751 HF, with matching mike, power supply/speaker, and MFJ tuner. Antenna is a G5RV. Two meter radio is a Yaesu FT1802 connected to a dual band J-pole.

01/2008 KC9KVU:
Age 8, 3rd grader in Green Bay, WI, licensed on his birthday Feb. 2007, upgraded to General in June of 2007, youngest General class ham in Wisconsin, and one of the youngest hams in the country.

Active on HF, has contacted all 50 states, net control on Wide Area Youth Net, youngest member of Green Bay Mike & Key Club, member of their board of directors and assistant news editor, member of YACHT, member of Menominee DAR Radio Club, hopes to pass his Extra test soon and become one of only a few Extras under the age of 10 in the U.S.
His dad is Joe, N9UPU, one of the YACHT coaches.

03/2008 The YACHT youth of the month focus for March is: Brittany Decker, KB1OGL of Hudson, NH. She is 14 years old, and a very active student as well as a general class ham radio operator. She is the net control for our newly established Echolink Youth Net on Sunday evenings at 6pm CST. Read her QRZ bio for more information.

04/2008 Alex is 10- and 1/2 years old, in the 4th grade, and lives in Marinette , WI ....received his Tech license in Aug. of 2007 at the Menominee DAR Boys & Girls Club.
He is a regular visitor and operator at the K8DAR ham radio station. He especially enjoys making Echolink contacts, and is a very good operator. He is YCM #8 and has been a YACHT member since getting his license.
Alex is a regular rotating net control for the Wide Area Youth Net. His future plans include studying for and getting his General class license this summer. Alex's mom runs "Image Works" in Menominee, the shop that does our embroidery.
